Tanga Tanga Leaders to Hold Parallel BBI Meeting in Kakamega

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale is set to fall through with his plan of holding a parallel Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) meeting that was initially suspended by the police.

Khalwale together with Rashid Echesa Former Sports CS were busy on Friday mobilizing the people to attend the meeting which is set to take place on Saturday at the Nabongo Mumias grounds in Kakamega.

The outspoken leader taking to his twitter account confirmed that the meeting would take place with no hinderances as earlier experienced.

“Despite the violent, brutal and uncouth disruption of the Western Economic Forum on 18/01/20, we remain unbowed. We will reconvene at the same Nabongo Grounds on 25/01/20. Our economy remains our priority.” He said.
On Friday Khalwale was busy wooing the people of the western region from elders to Bodaboda riders to attend the meeting dubbed ‘Western Economic Forum.

Last week, police evicted Khalwale from the grounds after it was declared out of bounds by the authorities from the region.

The region was simultaneously hosting the Building Bridges Initiative rally in Kakamega town, around 100 kilometres from Mumias.

Khalwale accused the state of intimidation as his team was chased out of the venue.

But on Friday, Khalwale inspected the grounds ahead of Saturday’s rally, which he has insisted that will talk about economic challenges at the region.

National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali is expected to lead the rally on Saturday. He had avoided the venue last week.

The meeting is viewed as anti-BBI, with the organisers leaning towards Deputy President William Ruto, who has often had reservations about the campaigns.
