Trasfers: Blow For Manchester United As Arsenal Edge Closer To Finalizing First Deal

The January transfer window is just one week away from closure and clubs are putting in the final touches to potential deals. One deal that is not going to happen is Bruno Fernandez moving to Manchester United.

The Portuguese midfielder will remain at Sporting for the rest of the season after the two clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee. Manchester United is willing to go up to the 70 million pound mark but Lisbon is said to have upped their asking price to 80 million pounds.

This would be a huge blow for a Manchester United team that is in desperate need of an uplift and a creative midfielder.

Elsewhere, Arsenal has been quoted the price for Ukranian center back Mykola Matviyenko who currently plays for Shakhtar Donetsk. Arsenal has been asked to produce 30 million pounds to get the services of the 23-year-old left-footed defender.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a huge fan of the player and constantly asked Manchester City to sign the player when he worked as the assistant manager there for the last three years.

One player who will not be at Arsenal past this January is Dani Ceballos. The Spanish midfielder is on loan from Real Madrid but has found playtime hard to come by. He has contacted his parent club seeking to terminate his contract with Arsenal and the Gunners will not object to the idea.

Chelsea is still working on a deal o land Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. The Blues are in the market for a striker to back up Tammy Abraham who was injured in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
