Showdown Looms as ODM Fires Back at Ruto’s Allies Over Support for BBI

Moments after a section of Jubilee party leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s Tanga-tanga faction announced they will fully support the BBI campaigns, ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has come out to mock the team.

Through his Facebook account, Etale, in a move likely to suggest that the Uhuru, Raila led team will not accommodate their counterparts, predicted that the ‘Kitchen’ will prove too hot for the ‘newcomers’.

He observed that Ruto’s team, despite offering support for the initiative, will soon find the BBI kitchen too hot and will start moving out while blaming others.

“When they will realize the kitchen is too hot for them, of course in someone’s house, they will walk out to try and whip public emotions. But the public will not be receptive and they will look awkward and revert to their usual kelele rallies,” posted Etale on Facebook.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon during a Press conference alongside Susan Kihika (Nakuru Senator); Moses Kuria (Gatundu South MP), Alice Wahome (Kandara MP) and other lawmakers, Murkomen communicated that they would organize rallies across the country starting with Mombasa this weekend.

But if Etale’s statement is anything to go by, then a major showdown is looming in Mombasa over the weekend when the two sides meet.

In November 2019, William Ruto’s allies were deliberately left out during the launch of BBI report at the Bomas of Kenya.

According to Murkomen who spoke at the launch, speakers chosen to address the audience was skewed, as leaders allied to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were given priority and were using the opportunity to criticise their opponents.
