Messi on Target as Barcelona Down Ten-man Granada

Quique Setien started his tenure as Barcelona boss with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Granada at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Barcelona dominated the entire clash but got frustrated for the better part of the clash before Lionel Messi got the winning goal. Granada finished the game a man down after German Sanchez was sent off after picking two bookings.

The hosts started the game strongly dictating proceedings as they patiently built in search of a goal.

Ansu Fati, who started in place of injured Luis Suarez had a first real attempt on goal but he failed to get the breakthrough in the 6th minute.

Ansu had another chance in the 11th minute but he failed to keep his shot on target. Lionel Messi was next but he equally failed to hit the target.

Barca knocked the ball around for the better part of the first stanza but they failed to hit the target.

Barcelona continued to dominate the game after the interval but a breakthrough proved difficult to come by as Granada frustrated them with some solid defending as they fought for a point at Camp Nou.

The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 69th minute when German Sanchez picked a second booking after fouling Lionel Messi.

Messi then got the first goal of Quique Setien era in the 76th minute after he was set up by Arturo Vidal. The goal proved to he the winner as despite having more chances, Barca failed to add their tally.
