Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been the trending topic this weekend following the almost fatal shooting of DJ Evolve at B club.
Babu claimed that he shot DJ Evolve in a scuffle for his life but a CCTV clip shows that Babu shot the DJ in the neck seemingly unprovoked.
DJ Evolve’s shooting incident has caused outrage on social media with many accusing Babu of being a beneficiary of impunity. Others were angered that Babu will go scot-free because the justice system in Kenya is skewed to favor the rich.
Amid all the social media chatter, DJ Evolve’s father a Jua Kali trader in Nairobi has spoken. He said that he got a call around 9 am from a doctor who informed him to rush to the Nairobi Hospital as his son was in critical condition.
“The doctor told me my son had been brought to the facility and was very sick. When I got there, I could not recognize my child. He looked so frail. I thought I had lost him,” DJ Evolve’s dad Johanes Orinda told The Standard.
“That shot was definitely fired to kill him. He could have died. He is a young man. He started this DJ business just a few years ago and I think that is where he and the politician met,” he added.
Johanes then revealed that DJ Evolve’s hospital bill has accumulated to at least Sh600,000 and they are wondering how to settle the skyrocketing bill
