Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru moved the crowd at Bukhungu Stadium after she warmed up to Luhya dialect before embarking on her speech.
In her address, Waiguru began her speech by greeting the gathering in Luhya dialect as she went ahead to praise God amidst applause from the residents.
Besides, Waiguru in her speech expressed solidarity with the BBI course saying the Mt Kenya region was solidly behind the initiative.
She further demanded equal representation of women in the BBI proposal saying that was the main reason that made her and many women leaders to support the initiative.
She also revealed that all governors from the central region were party to the initiative saying they were members of various committees formed to propagate the BBI course forward.
“Every Governor in Central is behind the BBI. They are in various committees including I who is in the national Committee while the rest are in the regional committee… We from central are prepared in ensuring the BBI course becomes a success, and no one is left out,” said Waiguru.
The BBI consultative meeting brought together various leaders including several governors, MPs, senators and local MCAs.
Among those present included ODM leader Raila Odinga, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa All Governors from Nyanza and Western region, Governors Ann Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Granton Samboja (Taita Taveta) among several MPs and Senators.
The leaders expressed solidarity with the BBI course saying it was the only way that Kenya will stay peaceful after a General Election.
ODM party leader reiterated his remarks that the country will be headed to a referendum by June of 2019.
The Kakamega meeting became the second after the initial one held in Kisii a week ago.
Another meeting of such a kind will be held in Mombasa County next Saturday in a bid to solidify base for the BBI course.
