‘Allow me to Unify the Country’ – Uhuru Scolds TangaTanga

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday reiterated that he is only interested in unifying the country and ensuring peace is the order of the day for Kenyans across the country.

Speaking in Nakuru County after issuing title deeds to a group of people at Rift Valley Regional Headquarters grounds, Uhuru indirectly sent a message to Tanga Tanga leaders urging them to allow him to unite the country.

Loosely translated as; “What I want to see is Kenyans living peacefully with love so that we can enhance development without skirmishes every time we have an election.

“Is that not what we want? Is it bad to live peacefully? Is it not good for people to coexist together and that when elections come, which is still far, you will still remain the one to decide who will rule you.

“Our interest is that when elections come, our citizens get the opportunity to do what they want to do peacefully…. tell those people to allow me to seek peace.”

The message was apparently directed toward members of Tanga Tanga political faction of the Jubilee Party, that is allied to DP William Ruto, owing to their latest attack on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)course.

Ruto’s allies have demanded the implementation of the first phase of the BBI report without altering it.

On the other hand, ODM party and leaders allied to President Uhuru have proposed radical changes including the creation of a powerful prime minister’s position which will, in the long run, lead to a referendum.

DP Ruto and his allies have expressed reservations on referendum terming it a waste of resources and unnecessary.

On Sunday, the DP slammed the BBI consultative meeting held in Kisii saying it was aimed at crafting 2022 political matrix.

Ruto added that he and his team will be forced to abandon the BBI caravan if it is about solidifying a political party’s journey to 2022 General Elections.
