Ekuro Aukot Surprises Moses Kuria at Kilimani Police Station

Thirdway Alliance Party leader Dr. Ekuru Aukot on Saturday paid Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria a suprise visit at Kilimani police station.

Kuria was arrested on Friday morning and driven to Kilimani police station after a woman identified as Joyce Wanja accused him of assaulting her at the Royal Media Services offices.

In a Facebook post on the party’s official page, Aukot said that he fails to understand why the police are still detaining the MP.

According to him the court order and the bail bond issued by Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot were authentic and should be obeyed.

“Our party leader Ekuru Aukot has met Hon Moses Kuria at the Kilimani police station. He perused the bail bond, the verification of the court orders from the Magistrate and we fail to understand why the police are still detaining him.” Read the Facebook post by the Thirdway Alliance party.

Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot ordered on Friday that Kuria’s be released on a Sh50,000 cash bail until the hearing of his application on Monday at 11 am.

However, according to State House digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, Kilimani Police officers declined to release the Gatundu South legislator despite being served with the court order.

Several leaders who had camped at the Station faced a rough time after police lobbed teargas on them.

“They have teargassed us ruthlessly and smashed some of our vehicles inside Kilimani Police Station as we tried to have them obey a court order on Hon Moses Kuria’s release. Members of the press were not spared either. The fact that they keep referring to “orders from above” is telling,” Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro wrote on Facebook.
