Kenyan International Moves to Finland

Kariobangi Sharks striker Sydney Lokale has joined Finland top division side, IFK Helsingfors on a six-month loan deal with an option of making the deal permanent should he impress during the temporary stint.

The Kenya U23 forward left the country for Finland on Thursday to complete the deal that will see him play outside the country for the first time.

The lanky forward who scored Sharks’ opening goal during the 2-2 draw against Sofapaka last Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos started his career at the now-defunct Nakuru All-Stars.

After impressing for the Nakuru based side, he earned a move to Sharks in June 2017 and has been with the William Muluya coached side. He has featured for Kenya U20, U23 and earned several call-ups to the senior national team during that period.

Last year, he tried pout with Swedish giants Malmo bur he failed to nail a deal in Sweden after training with the side for a couple of weeks.  He will be remembered for scoring the first Kenyan Premier League goal of the decade on Saturday against Sofapaka.

At IFK he will play alongside former Kenya international Arnold Origi who turns out for the side. The former Kenya one moved to the club in 2019 after playing in Norway for eight years.

Meanwhile, Sharks could also lose midfielder Duke Abuya to Zambian side, Nkana. Abuya’s contract with the side expired and the attacking midfielder who is best remembered for goal against Everton last year is in Zambia for talks with the Red Devils.
