Western Stima End Interest in ex Wazito FC Keeper

Immediate former Wazito FC goalkeeper Gad Mathews will not be rejoining Western Stima this January, coach Salim Babu has confirmed.

The custodian who recently parted ways with Wazito had been linked with a return to the Kisumu based side, a side that gave him his Kenyan Premier League debut before he moved to Kariobangi Sharks and later Wazito.

The Kisumu side was reportedly keen on bringing the custodian back to Moi Stadium as they view him as a long –term replacement for veteran custodian Samuel ‘Abawa’ Odhiambo who is at the sunset of his career.

Stima coach Salim Babu has now confirmed that indeed his side was interested in bringing back the former Kisumu Day High School keeper but decided against it as they are contented with the keepers in the team.

“It is true we were interested in signing Gad this January. But after consultations, we decided not to because we felt that the keepers in the team right now can do a good job. For now, we will retain the ones we have until the end of the season. After that we will make a decision, we can decide to add another,” he said.
