Chelsea Hijack Arsenal’s Move For Atletico Madrid Winger

Chelsea is currently working on a deal to bring Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar to Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman has not enjoyed his best form since he made his move to the Spanish giants form AS Monaco in 2018.

Frank Lampard is said to be a very big fan of the winger and he is desperate to sign him before the window closes this month. Lemar would provide very good cover on the left-wing which is currently being played by Brazil stars Willian.

Chelsea did not make a single signing last summer due to a transfer ban but now that the ban has been lifted, the club is ready to spend some money.

Lampard claims he’s central to a ‘joined-up’ transfer strategy as the club look to bolster their squad this month.

‘I know we haven’t done anything yet so there is no proof in that but we are joined up,’ the Chelsea manager said. ‘I have very close conversations with Marina [Granovskaia, the director], Petr Cech [the technical and performance adviser] and Scott [McLachlan], who is the head of our recruitment department,’ he said.

Lemar is available for a loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Arsenal was previously interested in the player but Chelsea looks certain to beat them to his signing. The Blues are also interested in Lyon striker Mousa Dembele as they look to proved competition to the first choice striker Tammy Abraham.
