Manchester United fans have once again taken to social media to ask the club to fire underperforming coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following Tuesday night defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
United went down 3-1 to City at Old Trafford in a first-leg semi-final a result that puts them on the brink of ouster from the Cup competition. It’s one of the competitions that they had a realistic chance of winning.
The Red Devils went down 3-0 in the first half courtesy of goals from Bernado Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Andreas Pereira’s own goal. Marcus Rashford scored a second-half consolation goal and United now have all to do in the return leg at the Etihad.
As has been the norm this season when United lose, fans were on the Norwegian’s neck calling for his dismissal. United supporters took to social media to ask the club to send the former Cardiff City and Molde tactician packing to salvage the team’s season.
Former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino, Italian Max Allegri, Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito, RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann are some of the coaches linked with the Old Trafford hot seat. Solskjaer, however, remained defiant in his post-match interview.

Ole is taking us nowhere. He’s just an optimist with no drive for success. Always happy with every results, either good or bad. #OleOut pic.twitter.com/y2fMhPFB5K
