Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has described Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s move to appoint a deputy governor nominee as unacceptable in light of the embattled county head’s bail terms.
Sonko was released from police custody on Dec. 11 after spending four days behind bars, following his arrest over graft and abuse of office accusations.

Part of his bail terms stipulated that the governor is prohibited from accessing his office, as the investigative agencies continue gathering evidence against the politician.
According to Haji, Sonko’s nomination of Ann Kananu Mwenda as his deputy is null and void and is in violation of his bail terms.
