A Mombasa Raha bus heading to Lamu from Mombasa has been attacked (possibly hijacked) at Nyongoro area near Witu Town by suspected militants.
Confirming the incident, Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia said the bus was heading to Lamu from Mombasa before it was attacked.
There were no details on casualties or injuries by press time.
“I have heard of such an incident but I am headed to the scene…I am also liaising with officers on the ground. Details on injuries, casualties or the bus company are yet to be established but I’ll give details soonest,” Mr Macharia said.
The number of passengers on board at the time of the attack has, however, not been established. More reports to follow…
