You Will Have to Battle it out With Kuria for Prime Minister’s Position -Murkomen to Uhuru

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has challenged President  Uhuru Kenyatta to get prepared to face Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria in 2022 if he wants to become the Prime Minister.

Through his twitter account, Murkomen opined that if the BBI report is passed as it is at the moment, and Deputy President goes all the way to win the presidency, then Uhuru, as the party leader will be forced to square it out with Kuria for Gatundu South parliamentary seat in order be nominated for the prime minister’s post.

“If we pass the recommendations of BBI report as it is &DP Ruto wins the Presidency while HE U.Kenyatta is the Jubilee Party Leader with a majority in Parliament then former President Uhuru Kenyatta can be the PM of course after battling it out with Moses Kuria&If President so wishes,” posted Murkomen.

Murkomen’s sentiments come just a day after former Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe claimed that the recently launched BBI report will shape the 2022 succession politics.

In his argument, Murathe, who has been so vocal against Ruto’s 2022 bid stated that once the report has been adopted, then Uhuru will have the right to vie for any post and extend his tenure in power.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta might remain in power, but in a different capacity, after the expiry of his presidential term in 2022…” Stated Murathe Murathe as quoted by a local newspaper on Sunday.

Murathe added that Uhuru’s team was anticipating for new political formations that will be all-encompassing and inclusive. This, according to him, will pave way for Mr Kenyatta to come back into active politics as the country’s premier.

His sentiments, however, elicited some sharp reactions from some political quarters with many telling off Murathe for seemingly working hard to force the head of state to extend his term in leadership.

Murathe maintained that president Uhuru is still the head of the Jubilee party and no one has so far challenged him of the position and thus have higher chances to be the prime minister if the BBI proposals would be implemented

This comes at a time Jubilee party has announced that it will not allow corrupt members of the party to vie for any leadership positions in the coming party primaries.
