On December 26, 2019, Kenyans across the political divide put their differences aside to celebrate Rosemary Odinga’s healing after a brain tumour left her blind 2 years ago.
The daughter of Kenya’s first prime minister got reprieve after visiting a doctor in India who used herbal medicine to heal her. This was after doctors in South Africa declared that she will never regain her eyesight
“We got to a point where we nearly gave up as a family after unsuccessfully visiting many hospitals including in Germany, China and South Africa before she was finally healed in India. Doctors in South Africa said she will never regain her sight. However, a friend introduced us to a doctor in India who used herbal medicine to help her recover,” her father Hon Raila Odinga told congregants at St Peter’s ACK church in Bondo, Siaya County.
Speaking on her battle with blindness, Rosemary disclosed that she felt alone and the hardest part was not seeing her daughters.
“I felt alone and had to quickly learn to use sounds and movements of people to tell who was around me. Those were the most trying moments of my life,” she said.
