Sofapaka Drops Ugandan Quartert

Kenyan Premier League side, Sofapaka has parted ways with four Ugandan players as part of their preparation for new arrivals in January.

The four are first-choice goalkeeper Ismail Watenga, defender Musa Malunda, Allan Katwe and Mohammed Kasirye both midfielders.

All the four players joined Batoto Ba Mungu at the start of the campaign. Watenga was particularly impressive for Batoto Ba Mungu and his dismissal has come as a surprise.

“It’s true the four have left the club. Some were released due to poor performance while some were on high wages which the club cannot afford. The target now is to bring on board young hungry players,” a source from Sofapaka camp told Opera News.

Batoto Ba Mungu, now under John Baraza managed to shakeoff the poor start to the current campaign and have moved up the log.

Meanwhile, the club has completed two signings so far. Shawn Oloo a young midfielder from Kakamega High School has joined the club as well as Wisdom Yana another young midfielder form St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale.

Other released players are Philip Muchuma, Cornelius Juma, Derrick Wafula and Timonah Wanyonyi.
