Just In: 5 Die in Mumias Accident

Five people have been confirmed dead following a grisly accident along the Mumias-Butere Road on Tuesday.

Confirming the tragedy, Mumias Sub-County Police Commander Peter Kattam said that the five died after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road, crashing into River Lihondwe.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Tuesday asked motorists to exercise caution during this festive season, which is one of the periods where most people perish from careless driving amidst the Christmas and New Year rush.

The National Police Service and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) have also echoed similar sentiments and have launched an intensive road safety operation across the country in a bid to curb rampant road fatalities this December.
