Arsenal Eyeing Barcelona Star as Aubameyang Replacement

Arsenal new boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing Barcelona striker, Ousmane Dembele as a replacement for wantaway  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arteta, who was on Friday named as Unai Emery’s successor wants to beef up his forward line in January with lead striker and captain Aubameyang stalling on a new deal as he eyes a move away from the Emirates.

Reports in Spain now indicate that the Spaniard wants to sign the out-of-favor forward in January. Dembele has seen his playtime reduced since Antoine Griezmann joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The Gunners have struggled in front of goal this season with most of their goals coming from Aubameyang whose good scoring spree has since been disrupted.

The Gunners however, will face competition for the forward from Chelsea. Frank Lampard had intimated that he will be keen on signing a player capable of replacing Eden Hazard and Dembele is one of the players the Blues have reportedly earmarked for signing.

Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 as a replacement for Neymar who had quit the club for PSG. He has however failed to replicate the forrm that saw him labeled one of the best young players in the world. This has been largely due to injuries he has suffered.
