Deputy President William Ruto Saturday found himself on the wrong side of a section of Kenyans on Twitter, who read malice into Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s ‘birthday gift’ to the DP.
Ruto spent the better part of the day in Uganda officiating the laying of the foundation stone for the William Ruto Institute of African & Leadership Studies (WRLI).
The Makerere University Institute was named in honour of Ruto, with Museveni injecting Ksh10 million into the construction of the school.
Kenyans are, however, not impressed at the breeding friendship between Ruto and Museveni, who is one of the longest-serving presidents in the world.
According to the sceptic netizens, Ruto needs to distance himself from power-hungry leaders who might ‘infect’ the 2022 presidential aspirant with the malady.
Some were of the opinion that Museveni now has his sights set on ruling Kenya, and Ruto is his way in.
Our Prediction:
Museveni needs William Ruto to be president of Kenya for his son to succeed him as president of Uganda. The two will therefore do anything possible to market & popularize each other

With due respect to Museveni, he is such a scavenger, am sure there is something he is targeting in Kenya. He came here now his milk hs flooded our market at cheap rate. Naivasha dry port is at his disposal. In return there is nothing he gives Kenya. He is just mbekho mbekho

Museveni is keen on not just expanding his markets to Kenya, but expanding his territory. #MakerereCorruptionInstitute. pic.twitter.com/ShAbjMWtQZ

Museveni just like Putin prefers weaker and inexperienced political leaders as his neighbours so that he can dominate them and remain a regional kingpin. He can't achieve such an objective with a Raila presidency. We saw it in 2008 when he firmly sat in Kibaki's corner.

Others were of the opinion that Ruto is subtly establishing political relationships for a 2022 boost.
The next powerful President of the Republic of Kenya. President Museveni knows kenya better than some of us kenyans. You know how to make and maintain friendships. pic.twitter.com/5mkmIHN4LL

Me thinks after Museveni launched William Ruto research whatever, that meant that Ugandans will vote William Ruto as the next president of Kenya.😂😂😂

Of course Ruto needs to consolidate external regional support to ascend to power but in return Museveni encourages that relationship because of what is in it for him in the long run. Museveni is the one rolling the die..
