Arsenal Share The Spoils With Everton In Dull Encounter

Arsenal played out a barren draw away to Everton in what was Freddie Ljungberg’s final match in charge as the interim head coach.

The Swee made a few surprises to his starting line up by benching club-record signing Nicholas Pepe and instead started with inexperienced youngsters such as Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe.

The game lacked any tempo from each side and the first half ended with neither side having registered a single shot on target. Arsenal skipper Pierre Emerick Aubameyang had two good chances to put the Gunners ahead in the second half.

First, a corner was headed into his path by the impressive Calum Chambers but the Gabon strikers shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Minutes later, Lucas Torreira set Aubamenyang for a shot just outside the box but his feeble shot could not trouble the goalkeeper.

Alexandre Lacazette was brought on in for the ineffective Aubameynag but he could not make a difference and in the end, a draw felt like the fair result for both teams.

The result leaves Arsenal ninth on the table with 23 points while Everton climbs to 15th with nineteen points. The Gunners next face Bournemouth away in Mikel Arteta’s first match in charge while Everton host Burnley at home on Thursday.
