Waiguru Drops Defamation Suit Against King Kaka

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru on Friday dropped her defamation lawsuit against Genge artist Kennedy Ombima, alias King Kaka.

Taking to her social media accounts to reveal the latest development, the Kirinyaga County Chief said that she had decided to make the move following a series of incoherence on the side of the Genge artist over his song dubbed Wajinga Nyinyi.

“Having watched the antics of king Kaka in the last couple of days with reports of fake assassination attempts and DCI summons, I recognize that he’s confused, attention-seeking young man. I have therefore made the decision not to proceed with the Kingkaka suit,” said Waiguru.

Waiguru also castigated the artist for accepting to be used by political leaders in settling political grudges.

She, however, swore to fightback the politicians behind the composition of the song.

“It is unfortunate when talented youth are taken advantage of by some politicians and used to settle political scores. As I have chosen in previous occasions of this nature, I will contend with their masters,” she added.

The development comes barely a week after the Kirinyaga Governor wrote to King Kaka demanding he retracts the song from his social media platforms and issues an apology in writing.

According to Waiguru, the piece of art done by the artist destroyed her reputation.

Waiguru added that the artist composition is aimed at increasing his popularity and fame using her image.

In the song, Wajinga Nyinyi, King Kaka mentions Waiguru’s name and cites an incident where she was implicated in a corruption case while in charge of the National Youth Service during her tenure as Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning.

“Ati waiguru ako kwa office, Na story ya NYS tulisahau, Biro Moja alibuy 8 thao, Biro tunanunuanga mbao?” read part of a stanza in the piece of art.

Loosely translated as; ” That Waiguru is still in the office, and we forgat the story about NYS, She bought one pen at Ksh8000, a pen that we bu for Ksh20.”
