It was joy and dance as the delegation of about 4,000 Kikuyu community people led by Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri which had first converged at Eldoret Sports Club, made their way into the heart of the town, where they were warmly received by their Kalenjin counterparts.

The reunion between elders from the two sides was culturally solidified by sharing of a popular Kalenjin drink, (mursik) before the group was led to Silverline Hotel, (a popular political ground in Eldoret town were major political declarations are made).

Addressing Eldoret residents at the ground, MP Kimani Ngunjiri applauded the locals for their unbowed efforts to ensure that peace in the once volatile region has been upheld.

“This is symbolic of two tributaries joining to make one raging unstoppable river. To the Kikuyu, this is a kin to blood-brotherhood. A cultural practice that was used to assimilate people from without the community into authentic members. We are one. We are united, nothing can separate us. Thank you so much the people of Eldoret for the warm welcome,” stated Ngunjiri.

At the same time, the vocal MP, who has been an adamant supporter of the DP, urged the locals to vote out politicians who have been sabotaging William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid in the region.

According to him, Ruto, together with President Uhuru Kenyatta had brought peace in the Rift Valley through their 2013 handshake, hence deserved to be respected by all leaders irrespective of their political inclinations.

Kimani added that as Kikuyu leaders together with their elders, they had decided to go to Ruto’s Sugoi home to put more strength on his 2013 political agreement with president Kenyatta, ahead of 2022 succession politics.

The political leaders, church leaders, representatives and Kikuyu elders were among those who visited William Ruto’s Sugoi home on Thursday to make what they have termed as a major declaration ahead of 2022.

Their visit came at a time the DP is in Uasin Gishu County to preside over Kambi Kuku poultry auction in Jua Kali where he will be the Chief Guest.
