Boost For Manchester City as Winger Nears Return

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that winger Leroy Sane is recovering well and that he will be back in action soon.

The winger underwent surgery after tearing his ACL before the start of 2019/20 season and has been recuperating ever since with the Citizens struggling in the English Premier League where they trail leaders Liverpool by 14 points.

He recently began training in the grass for the first time and it is estimated that he could be back in action towards the end of January or February when UEFA Champions League action resumes.

Commenting on his return, the Spanish tactician said the player is slowly becoming strong but will train on his own for some time before linking up with the rest of the team for training. Thereafter he will be ready to play again.

“I think he is physically strong, muscular, but he is recovering well. The next step is on the pitch and then the team, and we always will be so happy when he is back,” he said.

The former Schalke 04 man was linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer before he picked the gruesome injury. Asked whether the move remains on the cards, the tactician was noncommittal on the player’s stay at the capital

“I don’t know about that. Anything can happen,” he added.
