BREAKING: Sonko Rushed to Hospital

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after falling ill at Kamiti Prison.

On Monday, the court had allowed him to seek medical attention.

Aside from the medical service, Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti ruled that Sonko was to spend two extra days behind

bars.

The governor during his presentation in court pleaded not guilty to more than 30 counts in the Ksh 357 million corruption case.

Things went from bad to worse for the County boss after the prosecution team requested for Sonko’s bail application to be disregarded.

The team led by James Kihara, argued that the controversial politician had in more than one occasion threatened the EACC and was a flight risk.

Kihara further alleged that Sonko would intimidate witnesses to the matter and interfere with the ongoing investigations.

Adding insult to injury, Kihara insisted that the Jubilee party member and his accomplices should be denied access to their offices until the case is heard and determined.

The prosecution team delivered the final nail in the embattled leader’s coffin after they declared that Sonko should hand over his passport to the court.

Trouble for the once Nairobi Senator began when authorities from the Shimo La Tewa revived a case against the problem-laden leader.

The drama prone politician in November was accused of failing to finish his jail at the coastal prison.

It’s reported that in 1988, the flashy county boss was sentenced to a six-month jail term and ordered to pay a fine of Ksh 200,000.

More bad luck followed after Sonko was implicated in another case where he was required to either pay a fine of Ksh 500,000 or serve another six-month sentence.

The politician on both occasions found himself in a predicament after he failed to raise the funds.
