Chelsea Captain Urges Side to Improve

Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta has stated that the team needs to improve both defensively and in attack following yesterday’s defeat to struggling Everton at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard’s men suffered a 3-1 defeat in the hands of manager-less Toffees, a result that saw them further slip in the title race with League leaders Liverpool maintaining their perfect form with another routine win against AFC Bournemouth.

The Blues have won just one of their last five assignments in all competitions and pressure has slowly been piling on Coach Frank Lampard who fortunately will have a chance to recruit in January after their transfer embargo was reduced by CAS.

Speaking after Saturday defeat, the Spanish defender called on his side to show some improvement both in attack and at the back. He said his team has been conceding easy goals and throwing away chances upfront.

“Defense is an area where we have to improve but we are not strong enough in both boxes right now. We are conceding a lot and when we arrive in the dangerous areas, we are not clinical enough to score our chances,” he said.

‘It’s a major problem because in football the key is to be clinical in both boxes and at the moment we are not strong enough in both of them so we have to work on that”.
