Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg will also be making his home debut as the Arsenal boss and needs to start with a bang to please a frustrated Arsenal fanbase. Below we look at the best possible line up for the Gunners.

Defense

Bernd Leno has been Arsenals best player so far this season and will definitely start in goal. Meanwhile, with Hector Bellerin expected to be out, Calum Chambers will fill in at right-back.

Keiran Tierney was on the bench against Norwich but Sead Kolaisnac did not exactly put up a performance that suggests he should be starting ahead of Tierney at left-back.

At center back, it should be time to give Rob Holding a chance partnered with the experienced David Luiz.

Midfield

Granit Xhaka started for the first time since his infamous incident that led to him being stripped off the captaincy against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. His performance was not bad by his standards and should see him start yet again.

Arsenal’s lack of defensive solidity means that Lucas Torreirahas to partner Xhaka in a double pivot to shield the porous backline. Ahead of the two, Mesut Ozil starts in the attacking midfield position.

Attack

Nicholas Pepe has not started in the past three games for Arsenal but deserves to be playing more. Arsenal lacks a player with genuine pace and trickery to beat defenders with Pepe not playing which is why he needs to start against Brighton on the right-wing.

Meanwhile, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang deserves tp start in his preferred striking role at the expense of Alexandre Lacazette with Gabriele Martinelli on the left-wing.

Starting XI: 4-2-1-3: Leno, Chambers. Tierney, Luiz, Holding, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Pepe, Aubameyang, Martinelli.
