Dominant Manchester City Sweep Past Burnley To Reduce Liverpool’s Lead

Manchester City got back to winning ways in the league following a comfortable 4-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. City faile to win at Newcastle over the weekend but showcased why they are the two-time defending Champions with a faultless display away from home.

With Sergio Aguero out with a thigh strain, Brazil sensation Gabriele Jesus was given the chance to lead the line and he took his opportunity gloriously.

Jesus opened the scoring in the 24th minute following a swift counter-attacking move. David Silva fed him the ball on the edge of the box and the striker curled in beauty into the top corner for his first goal in eleven matches for club and country.

Burnley could not get a hold of the ball and was lucky to go into half time trailing by just one goal.

They were behind just four minutes after the restart through Jesus once more. Manchester City passed the ball neatly just outside the box and Bernardo Silva scooped a ball to Jesus who slammed it home on the volley for his brace and city’s second.

Burnley was not getting any minute on the ball and went further behind when midfielder Rodri blasted a thunderbolt into the roof of the net for yet the third goal.

Riyad Mahrez completed Manchester Citys scoring just ten minutes after coming on with a right footed shot from the deg of the box.

Pep Guardiola is without his first-choice defenders and that showed when his side conceded a sloppy goal through Robie Brady with three minutes left.

The win leaves Manchester City second on the table with 32 points, 8 behind leaders Liverpool.
