Details of Raila, Waiguru Meeting, Ruto Allies Plot to Hijack BBI & Top 100 Most Influential Kenyans

Desperate times call for desperate measures. That is how best we can summarise the story of a man who escaped from Nairobi West Hospital after surgery.

Stanley Ng’ang’a broke out of the hospital in 2017 after he underwent a leg surgery at the facility. It is believed he got assistance from one of the security guards during his daring hospital-break.

Unfortunately, Mr Ng’ang’a was arrested in Thika after the matter was reported to police. The hospital used CCTV footage as part of the evidence and wants him to pay his bill of Ksh 962,000.

Mr Ng’ang’a is just one of the many Kenyans who are overburdened by the high cost of Kenya’s healthcare system. In February this year, a man was arrested at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after he attempted to sneak his daughter out of the facility because he couldn’t pay her medical bills.

In March, a woman delivered her baby at Uhuru Park because she couldn’t afford to go to the hospital. These three cases happened in Nairobi alone. We can’t tell the agony of patients who can’t afford medication in different parts of the country.

Do you think the Kenyan healthcare system is so expensive? What measures should be put in place to reduce the cost of medication?

Here are the stories making headlines this morning:

Top 1oo Most Influential Kenyans 2019

If you were asked to compile a list of the most influential Kenyans this year, whom would you pick at number one? Some people like the world’s best teacher Mwalimu Peter Tabichi and the Greatest Marathoner of All Time (G.O.A.T) Eliud Kipchoge have put Kenya on the international stage with their exemplary performance.

But who else makes the list? Would you include Stivo Simple Boy?

Here is a list of people we think made the most impact this year.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has come under intense criticism following the arrest of Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over hate speech remarks. A section of politicians allied to DP William Ruto has questioned why none of the ODM politicians has been arrested over the violence meted on Tanga Tanga members during the Kibra by-elections. Do you think the DCI is biased when it comes to dealing with politicians?
