Kamanda Booed in Kirinyaga Days After BBI Launch

Jubilee’s Nominated MP Maina Kamanda was, on Friday, booed by residents of Kirinyanga County who were chanting pro-Deputy William Ruto slogans.

Kamanda, a staunch supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga handshake, faced a booing crowd who shouted Ruto! Ruto! at funds drive in Kagio village.

It is not the first time Kamanda is facing hostility in Central Kenya. In September 8, the MP clashed with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro at Gitui Catholic Church.

Nyoro, who belongs to the Tanga Tanga camp, stormed the Church when Kamanda was introducing guests.

When Nyoro took over the microphone, he declared he was the area MP and would be the one to invite guests to speak something that Kamanda objected.

Nyoro maintained that he would not allow people from Nairobi to take over his constituency.

“I tell Kamanda to his face that let him produce the list of guests so that I can invite them” he insisted.

Kamanda would hear none of it and stood up. This prompted County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua to intervene.

At the same time, Nyoro supporters stormed the dais and surrounded him as Church leaders desperately tried to return the situation to normalcy.

Kamanda finally took back control of the microphone and presided over the fundraiser.
