Italian Coach Distances Himself From Arsenal Job

Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti appears to have ruled himself out of contention for the head coach role at Arsenal by insisting that he will remain in Naples.

Current Arsenal boss Unai Emery is on the brink after a dismal run that has seen the club fail to register a win in their last seven games in all competitions. The latest was the 2-1 defeat in the hands of German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night at the Emirates.

A number of coaches have been linked with the Gunners job. Massimiliano Allegri, Nuno Espirito, Mikel Arteta, Mauricio Pochettino and now Ancelotti have been touted as possible replacements for the former Sevilla and PSG coach who replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates in 2018.

Ancelotti, however, has problems of his own in Naples. The team is winless in six matches since the row between the players and the management began and his position at the club is said to be under scrutiny due to the poor run.

Despite uncertainty over his own job in Napoli, the tactician insists that he will not be leaving. Asked whether he has been contacted for the Arsenal job, the former Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG coach termed the reports as rumors insisting that he will remain with the Italian giants.

“These are rumors! I have white hair and experience. In this moment they are all rumors. I stay with Napoli, of course,” he said.

Napoli will host Bologna on Sunday as they look to return to winning ways.
