Video of Uhuru Vowing That Kenya Will Never Have Another Prime Minister Emerges

A video of President Uhuru Kenyatta, vowing that the country will never have a Prime Minister again, has gone viral on the Internet which never forgets.

This comes just hours after Uhuru ironically unveiled the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, with one of the document’s major proposals being the reintroduction of the Prime Minister position in government.

In the short clip, Uhuru is seen addressing a crowd during the 2017 election period, seemingly agitated by a plot by politicians to bring back the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister slots, positions that were abolished under the current constitution.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga during the BBI launch on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Wengine hapa wamedanganywa mchana mchana kama watoto, ati watakua Prime Minister na madeputy Prime Minister (Some of these politicians have been deceived like children that they will become Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister)” Uhuru annoyedly says in the footage.

Ati watabadilisha katiba baadaye (they think they will amend the constitution in future),” he continues, scathing his 2017 presidential election opponents, the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The President, who at the time was seeking a second term, goes ahead to mock the opposition’s intelligence levels, for believing that he would accommodate them in government if they lost.

Mtu mzima kudanganywa mchana mchana na anakubali (a whole grown up being deceived in broad daylight),” Uhuru mocks, referring to the then NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

The President then goes ahead and asserts that the Prime Minister post died with the coalition government, where retired President Mwai Kibaki shared power with Odinga.

Cheo cha Prime Minister killisha wakati serikali ya nusu mkate ilienda nyumbani (the Prime Minister position died when the coalition government completed its term)” the President says.

The BBI report was prepared by a task force appointed by Uhuru and Odinga after they reached a political truce in 2018, in a bid to fix the country’s political crisis, amongst other issues, facing Kenya.
