Unrelenting Itumbi Starts War Against Referendum

Despite suffering hours of trolling on social media Wednesday, after security officers threw him out of the VIP section during the BBI report launch, Dennis Itumbi is still poking netizens for trouble.

The State House Digital Press Secretary Wednesday evening received an embarrassing clap back from Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, after he attempted to blast her over her allegiance to team Embrace, which is in direct rivalry with the Inua Mama brigade, which Itumbi is allied to.

Shortly after Sabina shut him down on the female politics front, Itumbi directed his guns back to the BBI discussion.

Joining the what-next-after-the-BBI-launch debate, Itumbi asserted that forcing the country into a referendum would be a waste of resources for the benefit of selfish individuals.

According to the Deputy President William Ruto ally, the solution to the issue of electoral violence is contestants learning to concede defeat, not creating special positions for poll losers.

“Losing elections and accepting the results is the best BBI that can ever be,” Itumbi stated, throwing jabs at ODM leader Raila Odinga, who has a history of disgruntlement with election results.

“In 2002, Uhuru conceded. No fight. In 2005, Kibaki conceded. No fight. In 2010, William Ruto conceded. No fight. In 2019, Mariga conceded. As a result, no PEV,” he continued, referring to the post-election violence that ensued after Odinga refused to concede defeat to retired president Mwai Kibaki in the 2007 polls.

“To spend Ksh.20 billion in a referendum is and should not be a priority,” Itumbi asserted.

The likelihood that the country might go into a Constitutional referendum to actualize the recommendations of the BBI report has been speculated by political experts, although a section of leaders feel that a Parliamentary vote is more than enough.

Several legislators, including Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, have echoed similar sentiments to Itumbi’s on the referendum unnecessity.
