Kenyans on social media have heaped praise on Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga after he scored seven goals for his Japanese side, Kashiwa Reysol in a Japanese League two match on Sunday morning to take his tally to 27 goals.
Olunga’s seven goals means he finished second in the top scorers’ chart with 27 goals one behind the league’s top scorer. It was also the final match of the season where Kashiwa had already secured a return back to the top tier and the match was more of a formality clash.
Olunga grabbed a hat-trick in the first half before adding four more after the interval in front of adoring Kashiwa fans who were chanting the famous ‘Jambo bwana’ song. He opened the scoring in the 6th minute before adding more foals in the 27th, 33rd, 57th, 65th, 67th, and 92nd minutes to complete the rout.
The 27-goal haul is the attacker’s best in his professional career and is likely to attract interest from suitors across the world. Already the forward has been backed to quit the Japanese side for a return to Europe.
