Despite the joy, a new twist to the saga emerged after it was reported that the stalling of the much-anticipated paperwork, was done deliberately by the government.

According to a local daily, a source claimed that the government employed a tactic underground, while the debate about the contents of the document raged on the surface.

Details alleged that the administration in the background was accumulating information from Kenyans on their expectation of the BBI report.

It was further pointed out that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was used to deploy officers to carry out a poll in all counties.

The other is the case of challenges that would be faced in terms of the distribution of finances if a referendum is strongly suggested before 2022.

The exercise would see the decision of either remaining with the current system of governance, the presidential system or adopt the parliamentary system.

Tension towards the findings of the initiative in recent weeks elevated as it seemed that Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto were not on the same page.

President Uhuru on Friday during a public address at Kibabii University’s fourth graduation ceremony affirmed his pledge to make the document available to Kenyans.

The Head of State warned political leaders to avoid dividing citizens using the contents of the project.

He further advised that the country needed to read the document with precision in order to make a meaningful decision of whether to adopt or reject the BBI report.

Ruto on the other hand, following the news, continued to preach fire and brimstone.

The DP promised that he would not accept any hidden proposals in the paperwork.

He took a swing at Raila over the matter and asserted that violence could not be hidden behind the findings of the initiative.

The Jubilee party member declared that the veteran politician and his camp should stop being opportunists in terms of using BBI as a way to gain popularity ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

In the ongoing war between the two, Raila cautioned that those who opposed the by-product of the handshake would be left behind.
