Man United Youngster Keen on Replacing De Gea

On-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is keen on succeeding at the club in the long-term as he continues to impress on loan at Sheffield United.

The 22-year old Man United academy graduate returned to Bramall Lane for a second loan spell after guiding the team to the English Premier League last season. He has so far kept five clean sheets in the league as his side continues to surprise in the top tier.

The youngster, however, is focused on succeeding at his boyhood club in the long-term. He further admits that he has a lot of work to do in order to fulfill his dream of succeeding current United number David De Gea who is regarded as one of the best in the world.

“I still don’t believe I am a Man United player yet. I still feel I have a lot of work to do to get to that level. Hopefully, I can fulfill the ambition of playing for them one day and why not if I keep going the way I’m going? He said.

Henderson had loan spells at Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town before landing at Sheffield and he has advised young players to seek more playtime in lower leagues rather than sit and wait for their chance in their parent clubs.

“I always wanted to get out there and prove myself, rather than sit in my comfort zone. I would like to see more goalkeepers go out into the lower leagues because it would be a big test for them. I’ve proven I can play in every division,” he added

“There are many players who are just happy to sit there and say they are Manchester United players, but realistically you aren’t for me until you are in the first team.”

Sheffield will host Man United on Sunday but the youngster will not feature as he is ineligible to play against his parent club.
