United Dealt a Blow in Winger’s Pursuit

Leicester City winger James Maddison is set to turn down a move to Manchester United and sign a new bumper deal with the Foxes according to reports in England.

The Foes number 10 has been in fine form for the club attracting interest from several English clubs including a rebuilding United side. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is short of creativity and the Norwegian tactician had earmarked the England international for signing.

Juan Mata is aging and out of form. He has been reduced to a bit-part player at the club. Jesse Lingard is out of form and United’s team is crying for a creative player. Angel Gomes is viewed as a long term heir to the position but Solskjaer wants to sign a player with experience to fill the void.

He will however have to look elsewhere as Maddison is keen on remaining at King Power Stadium. According to reports in the Daily Mail, the former Norwich City man is keen on extending his stay at the club as he is assured of adequate play-time at the club.

The player was earlier thought to be keen on a move to Manchester being a boyhood United fan but he seems to have changed his mind. The midfielder who recently made his England debut is believed to be worth 80 million pounds, the same amount United coughed to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City last summer.

He is contracted with Brendan Rodgers’ side until 2023 and he is expected to sign an improved deal that will run until 2025 which will all but end any hopes of him moving to the former English champions.
