Another Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Nairobi After Tyres Burst

A Fly540 plane on Thursday reportedly made an emergency landing in Nairobi after its tyres burst during take-off from Lodwar Airstrip.

The details of the incident are yet to be confirmed by relevant authorities.

A social media user identified as Rodgers Esekon, who claims that his relative were aboard, shared pictures of the incident at his Facebook account.

Passengers reportedly stranded at an airport after their plane made an emergency landing in Nairobi following tyre burst.

According to Esekon, who spoke to this writer, the Plane was heading to Eldoret from Lodwar.

The pilots, he says, decided to head to Nairobi owing to well-equipped landing equipment.

The passengers aboard the plane were placed on a different flight to complete their journey to Eldoret through Kisumu.

Fly540 is a Kenyan low-cost airline which operates flights around East Africa.

The airline is based in Nairobi and is hubbed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, flying to destinations in Kenya, South Sudan and Zanzibar with scheduled flights.

The incident come barely a month after Kenyan Authorities grounded Silverstone Dash 8 Flights.

The decision was arrived at after a series of audits following multiple incidents involving the airline’s fleet.

At the end of October, a wheel of one of its planes fell off during taking off.

Aircraft registration 5YBWG was scheduled to take passengers from Lodwar to Nairobi on October 28 but the inside left wheel became detached.

Earlier in October, a Fokker 50 skidded off a runway in Nairobi.

Furthermore, there were reports that a Fokker 50 hit a light aircraft’s rudder with its wing-tip during taxi in the same month.

The combination of these events had led to the inquiry from Kenya’s aviation governing body.
