Uhuru Must Be Playing Either Ruto or Raila – Herman Manyora

Days after President Uhuru Kenyatta met a section of Mt. Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge, renowned socio-political commentator and academician Professor Herman Manyora has once again questioned Uhuru’s loyalty in relation to his prefered candidate ahead for 2022.

Speaking on Monday when he featured for NTV’s Am Live show, the analyst doubted President Uhuru’s political stand alleging that the head of state was either lying on ODM party leader Raila Odinga or his Deputy William Ruto.

While referring to the president’s current speech in Sagana where Uhuru reiterated that he had never discussed any issues to do with supporting Raila in 2022, Manyora observed that Uhuru was cunningly trying to play with the minds of the two without necessarily inviting trouble from either side.

“There are those who have always believed that Uhuru must be playing one person. It’s either he is playing Ruto or Raila. When he is with Ruto, he speaks of another thing and when he meets Raila, he speaks the other way round,” stated Manyora.

According to him, the president could be playing either one of them as one way of ensuring that his big four agendas are carried out uninterrupted.

However, the political commentator insisted on the need for President Uhuru and Raila to work together with William Ruto as one way of ensuring that the country remains peaceful.

He argued it would be wrong for the president and Odinga to claim they were uniting the country through the handshake while sidelining Ruto who is also a key player in Kenyan politics.

“For us to move forward as a country and avoid the possibility of falling into chaos again, let us have these three gentlemen sit together and work towards a common objective. Uhuru and Raila should never lock Ruto out of this,” he stated.

The political analyst exhibited his confidence that Kenya will move forward in a smooth way should the three leaders reach at a consensus to work together.

“Instead of bothering about who is fooling who, I am calling upon Raila, Ruto and Uhuru to be statesmen that when the history of this country will be written, it will accord them serious space as real statesmen who sacrificed for the country,” remarked the Language and Communication lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

This comes just a week after the analyst claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta fears to release the Building Bridges Initiative (BB1) report due to perceived hostility in his Central Kenya backyard.

The political pundit noted the head of state was worried on partnering with Raila on the highly anticipated report since Ruto’s influence on Mt Kenya region had grown immensely beyond the expectation of Uhuru and Raila.

The BBI is expected to be handed over to Uhuru and Raila any day from now weeks after the committee finalised the report.
