For close to three weeks, the mutilated bodies of Joyce Syombua and her two kids; Shanice Maua and Prince Michael lay in a shallow grave at an abandoned cemetery in Laikipia County.
Meanwhile, Peter Mugure, who is being treated as the chief suspect in the macabre killings, was taking detectives in circles telling them that his family had boarded a matatu to Nairobi on the day they were reported missing.
We don’t know how detectives managed to get him to lead them to the scene where his family was buried.
As detectives exhumed the bodies of Syombua and her kids in Laikipia, another chilling story emerged from Busia; six bouncers had been killed in a case of mistaken identity.
The six were part of a group of seven young men who had been hired to provide security during the funeral of a local businessman in Masebula Village. They ended up losing their lives to an irate mob.
