Position Uhuru Will Consider Taking After BBI Report Release

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday hinted at the position he would consider once the BBI report is released.

During the meeting held at the Sagana State Lodge with Mt Kenya leaders, Uhuru clarified his interest and disregarded various speculations propagated by people.

The president stated that one of the rumours was that he had made up his mind on becoming the Prime Minister of the country.

The Head of State on his part asserted that he would consider the position if suggested by the report whose release date remains unknown.

He, however, reiterated that such talk was meant for the future and focus should be given to more pressing issues affecting the nation.

President Uhuru further pointed out that like all Kenyans, he was not aware of the details of the document and that everyone should be patient until it is handed over to him and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I do not know the contents of the BBI report yet I hear people claiming Uhuru Kenyatta wants to become the Prime Minister of Kenya,” Uhuru expressed.

The Jubilee party leader added that,” I wouldn’t mind being in leadership in such a post, though let us deal with the current situation first.”

The remark from Uhuru seemed contradictory to the one he assured Kenyans that come 2022, he would retire and let others have a go at the top seat.

The son to the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta highlighted that he and Raila are working together in regards to the aim of the project.

Uhuru assured the central leaders that he had no plans to endorse Raila in 2022.

“In my handshake deal with Raila, I did not tell him that I will support him should he express interest in the presidency in 2022. The resolution of our meeting was that we prioritise peace in Kenya,” asserted the president.

It was reported that the aim of the gathering by the sitting president was to quell the fears by the agitated leaders and bring back unity in the region.
