Man City Striker Believes Side Can Still Win EPL Title

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus believes the Citizens can still win this season’s English Premier League title despite trailing league leaders Liverpool by a whopping nine points.

Last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to the Reds dented City’s hopes of bagging a third straight title and boosted the Reds’ quest of ending their near three-decade-long wait for a league title.

The Brazilian striker, however, believes it’s still too early to write off his side. He says with 26 matches left before the season comes to an end, his side can still catch up with Jurgen Klopp’s side although he admitted that their rivals are currently playing very well.

“There are 26 matches left and that’s a long way out even to think who will win the Premier League. Liverpool are playing really well. They were beaten only once last season, but we will take them on and keep fighting for the title again. We will try to do our maximum and we will recover. We know we have the capacity to do this. Obviously, we want to win the championship, he stated.

The youngster also spoke about learning from Neymar at the national team level and Sergio Aguero at the club level.

“The dream is to follow what he (Neymar) has achieved. But I know I have to work hard in every game, every training session for City and for Brazil, and I know I have to score goals,” he said.

“I am also learning at City to do this, working with Sergio. He’s a top player, the record scorer for the club, and I can only learn from him. He scores almost every game.”
