Uhuru Appoints Another Old Guard to Lucrative Position

President Uhuru Kenyatta was at it again despite a public uproar over giving old people top government positions.

Uhuru, on Friday, gave a deaf ear to all the criticism directed to him and asserted his authority by appointing Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar and Mwanaisha Chidzuga’s mother Zainabu Kalekye Chidzuga.

Through a gazette notice, Kamar landed the post as a trustee to the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya together with two other people whose commencement date was September 30.

Zainabu, on the other hand, became the latest addition to the board of the Special Economic Zones Authority.

Her appointment was to be revealed to stretch for a span of three years as directed by Trade CS Peter Munya.

Earlier, a peculiar incident emerged after it was revealed that the wife of a CS had been given two powerful positions at the same time.

The spouse of the acting Treasury CS Ukur Yatani, Gumato Yatani, was handed the position of head of JKUAT’s council by Education head George Magoha.

In the same government document, Gumato was placed in the Taskforce on standards and quality infrastructure reforms board by Munya.

Her role as the chairperson at the public learning institution took effect on November 8 despite the formal announcement on November 15.

The more interesting part into the bizarre incident is that she was to assume her new role in the taskforce team, two days after her appointment to the university board.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the move by both Magoha and Munya, Gumato exhibits a vast of experience academically and professionally.

Ukuru’s wife is a product of both University of Nairobi and Moi university as she holds an MBA in the human resource management field and a Bachelor’s degree in education respectively.
