MediaMax Recalls Another Sacked Journalist

Mediamax limited company has bowed again to public pressure and re-hired one of its former employee, Jeff Njoroge, almost two weeks later after firing him.

The media company which is affiliated to President Uhuru Kenyatta recalled Njoroge shortly after Kameme TV’s Saturday show host Njuguna Gicheha alias Man Nyari was also recalled a week later after being fired.

The decision was reached after the MediaMax management on Thursday, October 31, held a closed-door meeting to iron various send-off packages of the 160 employees who were rendered redundant.

The meeting according to a source who sought anonymity with Opera News suggested that some employees could possibly be rehired under new contracts and different terms more favourable to the company’s revenue direction.

Njoroge ran a popular show on the Mediamax owned Kikuyu station Kameme TV with its popular tag line- Kigwa kuhihwo murio- which saw him attract a vast fan base.

Njoroge was also famous for MediaMax’s newspaper, People Daily advertisement, where he said, ” I’m the people, we are the people,” which was aired severally on Kameme and K24 Tv.

Before the axe, he had worked for the company for  15 years approximately, and he was among some of the employees who were set to leave with millions in severance pay.

Citing liquidity concerns, MediaMax limited had on September 2019, given a section of its employees a month’s notice to clear with the firm before their employments were terminated.

This saw Man Nyari face the axe which culminated to Kameme fans been enraged leading to them camping on the station’s social media, spewing anger at the management. A word from inside MediaMax revealed that the management was shocked by massive vows by fans to exit the station if Man Nyari was not brought back.

Man Nyari hosted Njanjo ya Muturire , an emotion re-union show that had massive following at the station. The show was assigned Wamucii Wa Kinyari after he was fired alongside hundreds of other employees.
