A police officer in Siaya is recuperating at Siaya County Referal Hospital after he was brutally hacked by unknown people and left with grave injuries.
According to police reports, the officer was attacked on Tuesday evening as he was heading to guard duties at the county commissioner’s residence.
The officers reportedly received a call from a good samaritan, informing them of a police officer in uniform, who had been spotted lying by the roadside and seriously bleeding near the Red Cross offices in Siaya.
The OCS and his team, are said to have rushed to the scene and found the administration police officer attached to the CIPU Headquarters in Siaya lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts in his head.
Upon interrogations, it was reported that he was attacked by two civilians, a man and a woman, who hit him with a blunt object on the head leaving the officer unconscious.
The two, according to reports, made away with the victim’s rifle, AK47 S/NO 4849372 which was loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.
The officer was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. The scene has already been protected with detectives commencing investigations and a manhunt for the attackers.
A few months ago, another administration police officer based in Bondo town, Siaya was lynched and killed by irate Boda boda operators after he was allegedly mistaken for a motorcycle thief.
Rodgers Adianya, a constable at Nyang’oma Kogelo AP camp, met his death when the furious operators pounced on him with kicks and blows, killing him instantly.
