Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s time in politics is over, says Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Speaking to Radio Citizen on Wednesday, Mutua used a parable of two greatest marathoner Kipchoge Keino and Eliud Kipchoge to explain the differences between him and Kalonzo.
According to Mutua, Kalonzo’s time in politics is akin to Keino’s current state in athletics.
Keino was the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in 19688 and has since retired from athletics.
In that regard, Mutua in all appearances insinuated that the former Vice President’s time in politics was irredeemable and hence can no longer call for the shots.
On the other hand, Mutua equated himself to Eliud Kipchoge.
Eliud is the current World greatest marathoner holding the earth record and also the first human to finish a 42-kilometre marathoner under 2 hours.
According to Mutua, his political journey is similar to that of Eliud in athletics.
“When Kipchoge Keino became the first Kenyan to win the gold medal we celebrated him and he continued winning up to 1970s. But does he run today?
“We respect his success but Eliud Kipchoge is the new face who is taking our marathon to the next level… Kalonzo Musyoka is Eliud Kpchoge now and Alfred Mutua is the new Eliud Kipchoge who will take us to the next level,” said Mutua.
The governor, however, said that Kalonzo deserves to be respected as a leader who has achieved a lot in the country just like the way Keino is respected.
According to Mutua, his bid for the presidency is not disrespecting Kalonzo but a move to take Kamba politics to the next level.
The remarks by the governor come at a time when he is harmonising his support base in a bid to establish a solid foundation for his presidential bid.
Besides, Mutua reiterated that come 2022 he will be in the ballot as a presidential candidate.
