A Nairobi court has given Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga and her daughter-in-law Lwam Bekele until November 27 to settle a dispute over Fidel’s estate out of court.
Issuing the directive on Wednesday morning, Justice Aggrey Muchelule also allowed the mother of the twins reportedly sired by Fidel Odinga, Phoebe Gweno to be enjoined in the case.
Phoebe Gweno, who is at the centre of the dispute between Ida Odinga and daughter-in-law Lwam Getachew Bekele had in October, requested the court to allow her to join the case to protect the interest of her children.
In an affidavit filed in court, Ms Phoebe Akinyi Ogweno who is said to have been Fidel’s secret lover stated she wanted to join the case so as to clear the air and give her position.
Akinyi had dismissed claims that she was interested in Fidel’s vast estates but claimed Ida had never seen the twins nor supported them and that the Odinga family had not been part of the twins’ lives.

Phoebe, therefore, applied to be enjoined as an interested party in the case pitting Ms Bekel, Ida and her daughter Winnie Odinga.
At the center of the tussle, is a multi-million shilling estate left behind by the late Fidel. Both Fidel’s mother Ida and widow Lwam Bekele have engaged in a vicious legal battle that has laid bare the secrets of Raila Odinga’s family.
Earlier on, Ida had moved to court to block any attempts by Fidel’s widow Ms Bekele to control Fidel’s estates. Ms Bekele had applied for a grant of representation to allow her to run the estate after the death of her husband on January 4, 2015.
According to Ida and her daughter, Ms Bekele had taken off from her matrimonial home soon after the deceased was laid to rest, and cut all communications with the family of the deceased.
Fidel had not left a Will behind on who will inherit his estates.
