Bomer Governor Hilary Barchok on Tuesday nominated County Assembly Speaker David Rotich for appointment as Deputy Governor.
Barchok also forwarded the name to Bomet County Assembly for approval of his nomination.
The appointment comes three months after the death of former governor Joyce Laboso who succumbed to cervical cancer in July.
This happened a day after a group of residents from the county protested against delays in filling the seat.
Bomet chief staff Jayne Sigilai, cousin to the late governor, had been feted for the position but the governor, November 5, dusted the hope after he appointed her as a chief officer in his reshuffles.
On Monday, residents from Sotik Sub County demanded that the Governor appoints a woman from their sub-county as his deputy.
Also, his appointment comes as a shocker to many who had asked him to appoint a woman as his deputy in respect to the late governor.
During the burial of Laboso, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu requested Barchok to appoint a woman as his replacement as he took over the mantle of leadership in the county.
