Wazito Captain Set to Miss Sofapaka Clash

Kenyan Premier League side, Wazito FC will be without captain Dan Owino when they play Sofapaka in a Kenyan Premier League match on Sunday at Narok County Stadium.

The utility defender has been ruled out through illness. He did not train with the rest of the squad and coach Melis Medo will have to do without the hardworking defender who can slot into the right and left-back positions.

With defenders Bernard Ochieng and Abouba Sibomana already out injured, Owino’s absence is a further blow for coach Medo who may be forced to work with a makeshift backline.

Club physio Noel Mandi has confirmed the player’s unavailability. He is however expected to ready for action after the international break.

“Owino is out of tomorrow’s game. He has been ill and hasn’t trained this week. He is recovering well but he is definitely not ready to play against Sofapaka. Hopefully, he will be ready after the international break, ” he told the club website.

Meanwhile, the team has been handed a major boost after it was confirmed that striker Derrick Onyango is back from injury and is available for the match against Sofapaka. The former Mathare United man missed matches against Posta Rangers and Sony Sugar through a foot injury.

“Derrick is available. He has trained very well all week and he is ready for selection,” Mandi revealed.

The match will kick-off at 3 PM.
