Video: Sick Joho Moved By ODM Victory In Kibra By-election

That former ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth is the new MP-elect for Kibra constituency energized ailing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, admitted at an unspecified hospital, he says.

In video footage shared by Daily Nation, Joho congratulated Imran for his resounding victory and pledged to create time to visit him for a mega celebration once done with medication.

“I am very happy, God is good… I really missed that. I think what has given me more strength that until now I feel better is the results of Kibra.

Even though people were voting and I am in Hospital but it is all God’s plan,” said Joho.

The Mombasa County Chief also revealed that he had been admitted for five days but expressed optimism that he will be out of the hospital soon.

Joho was admitted to hospital with Malaria.

The Governor also said the victory was much expected since Kibra is the political bedrock of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He missed in action the last moments the ODM brigade finalised the Kibra campaigns.

Nevertheless, the ODM party managed to defend its seat after Imran garnered 24,636 (59 per cent) votes.

His closest competitor Jubilee’s McDonald Mariga came distant second with 11230(27 per cent) votes.

41984 (35.38 per cent) voters turned up to participate in the by-election.
